October has seen the
completion of a basic perimeter protection system to Awsworth Primary
School in Nottingham. The work was carried out for Nottingham City Council
and took 2 days to complete.
The courtyards and approach to the school were protected by Bekeart
2.4m high green security mesh; this created a single entry and exit point
for the school ensuring all pedestrian traffic had to use the newly
installed Paramount pedestrian gate.
Access control to the gate was provided through an
electronic coded keypad for staff, and an intercom with remote release for
visitors. The gate was locked in the closed position with a magnetic lock.

Voice communications between the gate and the secretaries office
were provided by a Paramount Stainless steel intercom, offering crystal
clear speech and allowing teaching staff to identify the caller prior to
access being granted to the site.
The electronic coded keypad was chosen for its simplicity, but with
the advantage that the user code can be changed as often as required.
