Southfield’s care centre upgrade security |

Paramount recently
featured in Anglian Televisions nightly news for resolving ongoing security
issues at an old age pensioners care home. The care home located in the centre of Northampton had been plagued
by vandalism, intruders and even arson attacks. |

During November a number residents saw attacks from
fire works by persistent offenders; which Northamptonshire Constabulary found
difficult to catch due to the number of escape routes from the site complex. The complex houses 50 residents, and operates with 15
staff on each shift rota. The complex had been featured in the local
newspapers on a number of occasions. After consultation Northamptonshire City Council
employed Paramount to carry out a number of security measures for the site. During the security installation a film crew from
Anglian Television arrived to interview staff and residents regarding
security issues and threats of privatisation to the care home. The crew filmed some of the security upgrade being
carried out, as well interviewing residents on their opinions of the care
homes future. The footage was aired in the evening news; which went out
across the Anglian region. |

The entire perimeter was protected using Bekart
security mesh, which was supplied to match and blend in with the surrounding
area. By protecting the perimeter, this restricted access in
and out of the complex, and prevented potential Intruders from accessing low-level
flat roofs as well as windows and doors. Vehicle Access was provided by a single Entry and Exit
point, through a pair of Paramount Automatic swing gates automated using
their highly reliable power arm operators. Entry into the site was provided by an electronic coded
entry system for use by the staff. Visitors were provided with an external
two-way audio link into the nurse’s station where access could be granted or
denied. Pedestrian access was provided through a Paramount
pedestrian gate fitted with an electric lock with local and remote release,
as well as two-way audio for visitors to the nurse’s station. Both of the gates were specially designed and
manufactured by Paramount in order to provide a working solution that could
be clad with Bekart mesh to match the new fencing as well as being fully
automated. |
