Paramount Secure Southern Water Treatment
works in Hastings |
|
|
February
2004 has seen the completion of a new security installation in Hastings. The
contract carried out for Morgan EST was awarded in November 2003, and
involved a Paramount Integrated security system being supplied and installed
with all of the Infrastructure services to a new water treatment works being
built in the town of Hastings. The contract which took two Engineers three weeks to complete involved Paramount supplying 2.4m high Palisade to fence the entire perimeter of the site, as well as an automated access control system to restrict access onto the site. |

Paramount
Palisade swing gates were automated using the new Power arm series of swing
gate operator, similar in appearance to the older version but with a more
advanced electronic control panel, with surge suppression on every input, and
RS485 data connection for better system integration with third party devices. The
gates were fitted with a Paramount proximity card access system to gain
entrance into the site. This is controlled from a remote centre allowing easy
adding and deleting of users, time zones and a full historical log to trace
staff movements with all functions displayed on a L.C.D text display. |
|
Visitor
and non-card holder access was provided by the installation of a High Powered
Intercom system, suitable for use when a lorry stands at the call station
with its engine running. Placing a call on the system would cause the
Out-Station to connect to the control room; where a Southern Water Operator
could grant or deny access onto the site. |

Verification
of a visitor’s identification was carried out using a pole mounted “Fully
Functional” camera which viewed the gate and approach road. The camera
assembly was based around a Specialist Panasonic “Twilight” camera fitted
with an Infrared light and purposely built to Southern water’s specification
in Paramount’s own workshop. |
