Caterpillar Inc. has provided positive and sustainable change around the globe for more than 85 years. With a turnover of $60.138 billion in 2011, the company is the largest manufacturer of diesel and natural gas engines, construction and mining equipment and industrial gas turbines in the world. Caterpillar also offers a wide and growing range of related services, including their specialist power division Energyst.
The power production plant based in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, makes generators and power control equipment which is then supplied all over the world and to some of the most remote locations on the planet.
The production facility stores high value assets and components and making it secure from both attempted thefts and ensuring that health and safety were maintained were the main objectives the company wanted to mitigate.
A selective approach was adopted using a range of system types to meet the client’s objectives. Perimeter security was increased by the addition of new fencing, two new automatic gates and access control to the building. Further enhancements were carried out to the CCTV system by expanding the existing coverage patterns, adding video analytics and remote monitoring.
The building also benefitted from some additional hardening and electronic detection systems which could be used when the premises were not in operational use.
The system solutions were all connected to Paramount Security Group's central monitoring station, who provide out-of-hours security for the facility as well as managing the arrivals of deliveries outside of normal working hours.
